That's just sad. And I'm not one that considers these cars sacred objects of worship. There's just no reason to do that and not a dash of "fun" in it.
But, it was someone's car to do with as they wish. It's a shame they had such a stupid wish.
There's more dignity (and utility) in being a parts donor.

I love the gear shift.
It made me laugh out loud!
It reminds me of exactly what I am sure we all look like when we go out to the garage to find a puddle of one or more of the following under our cars.
