Hi All, This is my first post. I recently purchased a Silver Spur II (LCH31014) and I have found out it was commissioned and air-freighted out for the 1989 Sydney Motor Show. I know it's unlikely, but did anyone take a photo of the maroon Silver Spur at that show that they would care to share?

Is this it? From the cover of Praeclarum No.6-89 Dec 1989. "York Motors Stand at the 1989 Sydney Motor Show. The new Silver Spur II - York Motors' 1,000th car - takes pride of place in its stunning 'Oporto' paint finish." |

Hey Ron. Since Chris has provided a “before” pic. How’s about some “after” ones. We would all like to see how she looks today. |

Enjoy her Ron. They were made to be driven not stored or ignored. Just try and work everything in the car at least once a month and service her well. You will love it. |

Chris's photo jogged my memory that I had seen the cars beside their transport plane but could not remember where. I upended the library and found it in the companies 1989 annual report. Now if anyone can find photos of the gold Shadow II at the 1977 Melbourne Motor Show or its press review at Elanora country club / West Head NSW, I will be impressed and grateful.

Mark, Thank you for taking the time to look. I assume you have a copy of the Wheels magazine article from October 1977. If not, I am happy to copy it for you. Any chance of a higher resolution scan of your picture? My email address is ronwilson.aus [at] gmail [dot] com. Thank you again to Chris.

Thanks Ron. I have copies of 1977 Wheels and Modern Motor but can find nothing from the motor show. In the above photo where they were throwing SRH30264 around an S bend to try out the new 'sporty' front end, you can just make out a sign for McCarrs creek. I looked at the map and there is only one place McCarrs creek crosses the West head road. In 2006 I was able to recreate the experience of throwing SRH30264 around the very same S bend. Tragic I know! |
