The deep purple Spirit had arrived. I have the beast under lock and key at a swanky town house.

Yes, and the dashboard plaque states " Made Specially for Philip Mountbatten."

I think the plaque is totally false. I think it was put there by a dealer to fool the gullible.

The plaque is glued to the wood veneer in the middle of the dashboard and has a RR insignia on it.

That aside if it has stated it was made for Karl Marx, Attila the Hun or Janice Joplin I might have paid a few extra kopecks for it.

As you know I got this car for beer money so the plaque is in good condition but really the car needs massive tinkering to get it right.

So chaps any comments on plaques?

One way to find out is get the build data from Bentley. Who knows, (and really, who cares?). Now if it were Janice Joplins......

Hi Vlad

Phillip Mountbatten was a RROC NSW club member who had his name changed to Phillip Mountbatten.

Graeme Soderland can tell us more.
This was his car.

However I can't remember if he ordered this car from new, or he affixed the plate after he acquired it.

Mark perhaps you mean Hunt house, and the lady called Barbara? Heaven forbid that one should have to even scribe to Bentley for matters RR for that would not be cricket.

Patrick, this plaque is Philip with one "l" not two and its clearly a London delivery.

Perhaps, its just another mystery machine like my New York purchased Camargue!

Hi Vlad,

This is probably my bad spelling.

The VIN matches a new member greeting/announcement in an old L&D I was reading last week from around 2006.

Apparently the gentleman didn't like his old one, and thus selected a new one.

Maybe Graeme can help us out here.

Phillip Mountbatten could be HRH Prince Phillip and is most likely fake.

Earl Louis Mountbatten tended to have his cars ordered in Mountbatten blue which is a rather nice cobalt blue shade.

Philip with one L not two.

Mountbatten is an English version of Battenberg.

The Queen - Elizabeth Windsor and Philip are related via Queen Victoria.

I like cucumber sarnies cut in to small triangles so one can get one in ones gob in one go. Followed by a pint of warm tea. Then I am set for a kip.

Mr Kirillov,
I think the posters on this site are figments of their own imagination. I think therefore I am.

I think the correct wash-down for a cuke sarnie is Pims.

Then again, I'm a Yank living in Ireland, so what do I know.

Jeff,

I don't drink because I take medication, I have been warned.
My favourite hobby is sleeping.

Plaques are for making a car special, but a RR is already special. Usually they are glued to the wood thus making removal risky. If one must then inside the glove box lid is best.

I take lots of medication as well but as I didn't drink beforehand, it made no difference to me (smug mode on). :-)

I want a plaque on my dashboard with a limited number of my own design, 1 of 442271 would do :-)

Patrick,

"Desert wine"?? I understand there are vineyards near Alice Springs however I haven't seen anything in East Coast bottle shops. Perhaps Omar might be able to enlighten us on what happens in his part of the world.

Always interested in trying something new and different .
