I have a very early T1 (no 66). It has Bentley cast into the rocker covers, a Bentley build plate, and is fully Bentley badged. According to some books I have read, and various sites on the internet, Bentley cars still had Rolls-Royce cast into the rocker covers, and were quite obviously a rebadged Rolls. Does anyone know what badging a Bentley is supposed to have? |

Our 1972 T-Series has Rolls-Royce on the rocker covers, an Australian compliance plate marked Silver Shadow from York motors where it was delivered, but B on the speedo and headlamp surrounds. The build plate is Bentley. These botchings were the norm from 1970, just before the 6750cc cars were released. From 1977 (SSII/T2), they gave up and even put R-R on the speedo and headlamp surrounds ! Oh, how they forgot that the origin of standard bodied cars was the Mk VI. It wasn't until the Mulsanne Turbo that they went back to almost full Bentley badging. |

Our '77 T2 has RR rocker covers, RR speedo, and Bentley headlight surrounds. It seems they were not afraid to do anything. |

I remember this very well the reason for the mix an match was exhaustion of parts stock. At about this time the Factory was on the point of ceasing production of Bentleys - full stop.. The outrage that followed apparently came not from the home owners but the Americans and the Factory held on. The advent of the Turbo of course completely reversed the trend. |

The bonnets are different between RR and Bents. |
