Hi, Can anyone recommend a black "paint" or colorant to refurbish the rubber on my 1990 Mulsanne S bumpers. After 27 years it’s looking a little tired. Thanks Regards Darryl |

Darryl, I have found the following product excellent for rejuvenating and protecting plastic/rubber components exposed to weather and UV radiation: http://3mmarine.com/3mtm-marine-vinyl-cleaner-and-restorer-15-fl-oz-09029.html Most marine suppliers stock this product. |

Darryl....I have always found Meguiars 'Bumper and Trim Reviver to be an excellent product and lasts quite well. It gives a nice solid black sheen rather than a tacky shine like many products. |

Darryl....if your rubber trims are looking a little tired....before using any reviver product on them, it pays to give said rubbers a good scrub with a piece of terry towel soaked in paint thinners....or even metho. This will help to 'key' the surface so any product applied will adhere much better |

Maxwell, It's still on the To Do list. I have a number of projects on the go at the moment and every thing seems to take longer the older I get. I'll update when I done the deed. |

Darryl, I stumbled on this article about someone restoring the rubber bumpers on his MGB. He describes the process in detail and the results speak for themselves. I just wonder how durable this would be. http://www.mgexp.com/article/rb-repair.html |

I've finally had a chance to look at one bumper rubber. (How did I ever have time to go to work?). Gave it a quick rub down using 3000 wet & dry then a coat of Meguiars "Endurance Tire Gel". Results are encouraging. I think with a little more rubbing down to get rid of more gunge from old applications the results will be good enough for me. Regards |
