I need to buy a knock sensor for my 96 Continental R. This part does not have to be a Crewe part. Any suggestions on which one is readily available with a plug and play feature? Thanks Omar |

Sorry for the vary late answer: the Lammerholms in our cars are unfindable. You will need to adapt a usual Bosch ring type. It's precisely the same pluy but you will need to machine an adaptor I believe M12 to M6? Tell me in case you need the product number ofBosch. |

Thanks Lluis. I have done exactly that. I bought Bosch part number 0261231188 and it arrived yesterday from the USA. Now the check engine light has gone out so I will not replace it until it returns. Yes I will need to put a bolt through it to install it. Thanks Omar |

Regarding the Substitution of the original Lamerholm Sensors with the Bosch items, for me there is a question of compatibility. I'm no specialist in Engine-electronics but as far as i understand the working principle of a Knock-Sensor, there is an output-signal from the Sensor which is just a Voltage in relation to the acceleration. The electronics to detect Knocks ist calibrated to the characteristics of the Sensor (Voltage / Acceleration). So if i use another Sensor with different characteristics than the original Sensor, there is the possibility that knocking is not detected... Please let me know, if i'm totally wrong with my thinking... Regards Patrick |

As far to my knowlodge the Bosch sensor 0261231188 is the wrong one for our cars. The correct one should be 0261231006. I do not have datasheets of those two sensors, but impedance, senstivity ... maybe different. I share Patrick's concerns.. The reason is that our cars use Saab Turbo management, my TurboECU shows a Saab parts number together with the RR parts number. Saab uses the above mentioned Bosch sensor 0261231006. Consequently this should be the right sensor. There are many alternatives to this Bosch sensor by Facet, VDO ... Regards - Udo |

Hi Guys The only info I can find is "The Lamerholm VP50/1 is a standard knock sensor. The manufacturer specifies the response band to 2kHz to 20 kHz." Does it have an internal resistor? Who knows what frequency our engines knock at?. Is the bosch 0261231006 a wideband sensor? Cheers Mike |

Hi All Think I've found an alternative (on order) But can anybody tell me where to find "Engine Fault Diagnosis Chart - Possible Causes of Fault (refer to table: 4736e17e_0003) (refer to table: 4736e17e_0004)" I've looked everywhere for this , why are R-R & B manuals so cryptic??? Thanks Mike |

Dear Mike, There is a factory workshop manual called IETIS. You need to get that. You will find both these tables there. One of our members Paul York can supply you with the CD for this manual. It is a must have item and not too expensive. I could not copy the two tables for you as they were a few pages long. Good luck. Omar |

Dear Mike, Go to the top of the screen and click the binocular icon. A window will open up. insert 4736e17e into the box and click ok. it will take you to that exact place. Then do the same again for the other table. Good luck. Omar |

Dear all, Dear Michael, Thanks to Michael, the VALEO replace number is found and tested in my #52020 Continental R: VALEO 255400. It's almost identical and direct-fit and eliminates the adapter and risks associated with the ring-type Bosch systems (vibration signal poisoning), which stopped my engine reaching 4500rpm on full boost, it would not go above 4100). I have fitted it and tested in my car and it works perfectly, of course, do so at your own responsibility and risk. Best, Lluís |
