I am overhauling the hydraulic accumulator valves of my Silver Shadow drophead coupe (built 1969) DRH7762 I ordered overhaul spares Enclosed, you will find a photograph with a small valve shaft with the mounted original neoprene and teflon gland. Besides, you can see the new one. I have no idea how I can exchange the gland. Is there a trick? Is the shaft a composed one in 2 parts? Do you know somebody who can advice me? Carlos

Yes, you need a special tool that tapers to a point. It slips on over one end to allow the new seal to expand and slide over the piston and sit in the groove. Cut off the old one carefully, replace the rubber ring, then heat the new Teflon seal in hot oil and quickly slide it on over the tool and press it into the groove. I have the tool, will take a picture of it later today and post it for you. SRH8505 SRC18015 SRE22493 NAC-05370 www.bristolmotors.com |
