hi fella's this question might be a bit stupid but ill ask it anyway. im wondering if the the front and rear seats of a 1967 shadow will be the same or fit into a 1958 cloud 1. OR can the leather be stripped off the shadow and put on the cloud. any help and information will be great Cheers Michael |

Hello Michael. No, on both counts. The seat widths and sizes are different and so Shadow seats will not fit into a Cloud. Also, they are of a completely different design, and not really suited to the Cloud. You cannot strip the leather from the Shadow seats and use in the Cloud, as the patterns are also different. To do the job right, you must reupholster correctly. As you might know, Connolly's are no longer in business, and besides, their "Vaumol" hide as used in Clouds and Shadows, was discontinued twenty or so years ago. Occasionally you can find the odd guy around who has a few hides of old Vaumol, but if not, then Bridge of Weir will match. Good luck. |

Thank you for your reply John. Im not quite familiar with the shadows interior. would you be able to recomend an upholsterer in sydney that has retrimed a cloud. Doesnt have to be the most expensive one. hehe. or is there any club member that enjoys upholsering in their spare time. Cheers |

Michael, I cannot recommend an upholsterer as I am not in Australia. All I can say is that these cars deserve proper care and servicing from the outset, and those in need of interior/exterior restoration be done so correctly. Otherwise, you will simply be putting good money after bad. Not having the Cloud in question reupholstered properly will simply render, at best, disappointing results. You might have satisfactory results by finding a car that is being dismantled, but has a good interior, and purchasing all the seats etc and fitting them into your car. Good luck. |
