The end of Holden means the end of the UK VXR8 GTS-R. Interesting write up: https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/vauxhall/vxr8-gts-r Also the new Citroen C5/6 replacement without the Hydractive suspension system. IMO not a good move but the new suspension is cleverish. https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/new-flagship-citroen-saloon-confirmed-production . |

Great read Patrick L. Now HSV will be relegated to converting American imported Chevrolet Camaro’s to RHD. This is to do battle with the hugely successful Ford Mustang, where we get the turbo 4 Mustang, and the V8 powered GT Mustang. GMH or their owners GM should have addressed this years ago when Ford brought the first ever factory built RHD Mustang to Australia. It would have been an immediate success. As all GM nuts here in Aus, have ever wanted was a factory RHD Camaro. But no. All they did was concentrate on importing cars from Korea with Holden badges on them, and now the replacement for the Comodore is coming out of Europe. The Opel built 4 cylinder front wheel drive Insignia. However a more powerful AWD V6 will also be offered. They are still calling it a Commodore. https://www.carsguide.com.au/car-news/holden-commodore-2018-pricing-and-spec-confirmed-63861 Opel failed dismally here when GM tried to launch it a number of times, even with their own branded dealerships. They failed due to being way overpriced, and the fact they were unreliable buckets of crap, didn’t help. The only success here has been the Opel built Astra. The hatch is built in Europe, and the Astra sedan is built in Korea. Guess which one is more reliable. After all this was put to bed by the GMH/GM executives, Opel was sold to PSA. NOW we hear that PSA May launch the exact same car in Australia badged as a Peugeot. What a CLUSTER @#*#! What is selling big time here now since Holden fan boys/girls can’t get a RWD V6 or V8 is the Kia stinger. It’s a twin turbo V6 RWD car that hits 100kph as quick as the GTS-R I was just reading about. We now hear rumours of a V8 (from parent companies Hyundai Genesis) Stinger. I’ve driven the Stinger at a product launch, and I can tell you it is a very quick car (even the turbo 4 is a weapon) very tight and very good quality and rides very well. Check it out https://www.carsguide.com.au/car-reviews/kia-stinger-gt-60411 |
