With such a British tradition how is it that now VW and BMW, the German letter cars, now own Bentley and Rolls Royce? It is like all British meals as: Fish and Chips. Bangers and Mash. English Breakfast. Sunday Roast. Toad in the Hole. Shepherd's Pie/Cottage Pie. Steak and Kidney Pie Should be changed to: Sauerbraten (Roast Beef Stew) Schweinshaxe (Pork Knuckle) Rinderroulade (Beef Roll) Bratwurst (Grilled Sausage) Kartoffelpuffer (Potato Pancake) Kartoffelkloesse (Potato Dumplings) Sauerkraut (Fermented Cabbage) Spätzle (Egg Noodles) I have no idea what Toad in the Hole. Shepherd's Pie/Cottage Pie. Steak and Kidney Pie are, nor what any of the German meals are, just googled them. . | ||

For the same reason(s) that Fiat owns Chrysler, after Daimler owned Chrysler. The very idea that there are actual [insert nationality here] cars in this day and age is to ignore how cars are designed and made, across the globe. Admittedly, there are certain brands that seem to still be primarily controlled from a specific nation, but if you look at the design and construction of virtually any car it's a multi-company and multi-country undertaking. Toad in the Hole, my first thought was turds on a crust. I'm sure it tastes better than it looks. Shepherd's Pie looks good Steak and Kidney Pie and Toad in the Hole both look like what we call pot pies. Anything in a crust basically. Did modern Rolls Royce/Bentley stick to the same brake system of accumulators and brake pumps? | ||

No, it uses a conventional booster and has 2 180amp water cooled alternators to power the electrical system. Most of the vehicle is based on BMW 760 V12 DNA. | ||

The game is changing for 2020! Britain is not now part of EU. This means we WILL be responsible for ourselves for first time in decades. Sad to say, unlikely R-R nor Bentley will ever again be British owned. The only things we still have are Morgan, Ginetta and Triumph motorcycles. Lack of political will to help-and some stupid decisions! | ||

First post on the site. Basically in the UK any product that was any good was either allowed to be sold off or was literally given away with the assistance of the UK unions in some cases, mostly in the 70s-80s. Once it was realised, then the population came knocking on the door to recoup losses which in turn lead to further financial loss and collapses. The governments of the UK were not interested in investment, manufactures didn't see the need to develop a product because it had always worked so why change a thing. Very obvious when looking at the build of a 70/80/90 RR/B car and then at the likes of Mercedes or BMW whilst different scales of production ,the terms "hand made" and "mass production" clash badly. I used to run Bristol 401, 403 cars which benefitted from aircraft engineering and BMW prewar quality very light sporting and economy of fuel. Hope the Xmas rant is not to shocking to die hard owners, I do enjoy my 90 Mulsanne. |
