This is the first time I have written a post since joining the club so my apologies in advance for any misdemeanors. I have decided to replace the door seals on my SCII. I am on a tight budget currently, so scoured the various foreign parts websites for prices and spec in the hope I might even find a similar type locally. Eventually I found reference on the Old Auto Rubber Company website. They referred to a profile that was intended for the FE-EK Holden (apparently). It doesn't in any way resemble the profile currently on the car which is no surprise as the car has just been holidaying in Phoenix, Arizona for the past 25 years and could be fitted with just about anything. The profile is 260.009 and is visible on http://www.scottsoldautorubber.com.au/page15.jpg They also mention that 260.058 is used as the second seal at the door bottom on the door itself- visible on http://www.scottsoldautorubber.com.au/page16.jpg I have no seal on the door- just the one on the car. The reference to all this is visible on http://www.scottsoldautorubber.com.au/ROLLS%20ROYCE%201955-65%20SILVER%20CLOUD%201-2-3.htm I found a sample locally today of the 260.009 and it looks OK. Can someone shed any light on whether these are close in profile to what should/could be used? |

As an addition, I have just found the seal fitting instructions on page S22 of the manual. The plot thickens! |

Well as we always advise David - As a last resort read the instructions!! In choosing after market seals the two pitfalls seem to be they are the wrong shape or are too hard. Hopefully someone makes a close copy! |
