Hi everyone,

I am the owner of a 71 Shadow, but I also own a 81 Porsche 911 SC and a Harley Davidson, have done for some time now, I have owned the Shadow for about six years, the Porsche and Harley for three. I have owned a huge number of cars and bikes over the years, though I am 37 years of age. I believe now I have finally got what I want. Just wondered if there is any other members out there with the same triple passions.

Hello Geoff - well, since you ask, I suppose I come close with 70 Shadow, 72 911S coupe, a rare 1965,356SC cabriolet (All 3 locally delivered) and a Norton Commando; not running. The last mentioned car being the only car Ive ever owned where the ladies initiate a conversation (such a "change"!) whilst parked, or at traffic lights etc. Such a pain. BUT BEWARE,.. Dont say too much about "Porsches" (BMW and VW - well, sort of OK) in this forum, as we might upset a R-R world "expert" who once said that he had a "cure" (?) for "Porsche" owners and in any event, they were only "Dodgem" cars. Of course you and I would playfully share the lead, testing the rev. limiter, through the Blue mountains/Black Spur etc. (sunroof open?) with "Genevieve" type jalopies trailing far behind. If they hadnt blown up that is. As you no doubt know, the 3L 911SC is one of the most durable engines ever built, and a 78SC, owned since new by a Melb. clothing mnfr., has just recorded 1 Million miles (on second re-build) the owner travelling a "round" trip home to work, of 250k daily. Yes.. constant running whilst hot etc but still note, 1 mill. miles (not kms!). BUT you have been warned.. to talk of such "things" is VERBOTEN!. Re your separate post re "sticky" door, you have a great specialist up there, in John V. What did he say about it? PS; If you want to talk at length about German cars, best you e-mail me at john.dares@bigpond.com.au and I will tell you many a story eg. when, as an invited guest, I was denied entry, even into the spectators enclosure; annual "Jaguar" concours (83/84 thereabouts) because I DARED to arrive in a 911. "JAG-WHAHS ONLY", bellowed the portly, white coated "official", as a Corniche drophead glided past me (and IN) because IT was owned by a leading sponsor of the event. I just selected 1st, put on some revs. and drove around him. I can still see the look on his face!

Hi Geoff and John,

I think you will find that a lot of people will have different vehicles for different uses, as we have, and I imagine that some may even have more then three. As for ourselves, we own a '65 Silver Cloud III' (SJR481), for luxury comfort touring, a Subaru Forester Turbo GTL, for high speed spirited driving, (with room and luxury), and a Mitsubishi Pajero SWB 4wd, for serious offroad adventures.

The Subaru is a 4wd, but certainly not to the standard to handle what you can dish up to the Pajero, especially being the Turbo, having no low range, and minimal ground clearance. And then, yes, the Silver Cloud does move along quiet swiftely and handles surprisingly well for a car it's size, but you certainly wouldn't push it through corners as quickly as you can the Subaru. So, horses for courses, as they say.

I suppose we should think ourselves fortunate that we can afford to have the luxury of different vehicle for different uses. A lot of people are only able to have these choices, one at a time, and sacrifice the other needs till next they replace the vehicle.

Many will never experience the luxury that we have, in the types of vehicles we own, and how many we own.

Quite so. You both have a nice "range" of cars. Cars for "all seasons" or, if one can afford it, one for each day of the week. I am working on it!. Who wants to drive the SAME car every day ( even a Rolls-Royce!) anymore than eat the same food or wear the same clothes? I dont.

Hi Geoff.

As well as our 1975 Shadow my wife has a 93 V8 (Aussie) Ford LTD, plus we have an 86 (Aust) Spanmor LTD stretch and a 82 custom built 6 door (Aust) LTD stretch. We also have an English Ford Granada Dorchester stretch, and a 1980 Daimler V12.
We like 'em big and luxurious.

Thats the way Jon.. big,luxurious and STRONG!. Only yesterday, and following my recent post, Ive added a GMC (Pick-up) to my rather catholic collection and it too meets the criteria, as your cars likewise do.

Guess I should add, I also have a 2000 Volvo V70 Wagon (the wife is a bloody volvo driver not me), for the school run, and a Honda Accord, which I'm
not sure why I have, its just been around for years, not much fun, but very reliable. I am in the market for a 93-94 Bentley Turbo R, if any one hears of one for sale at a reasonable price.

1971 ss1 stretch, 1996 flstc Harley, 1989 Fairlane that my wife won't give up with 400000 on the clock, 1996 holden combo van that carts around all my disco equipment for weddings parties etc.
