Hello Everyone
"Warning", get a RR&B dealer survey before you purchase any RR or B.
The following is one of the things that can happen when you do NOT get a survey first.

I am trying to help a friend/RROC member.
He purchased his third Rolls-Royce roughly eighteen months past.
A 1957 Cloud 1, LSED 387.
He knew that "some" "alterations" had been done to the steering, before he purchased it.
One of the previous owners allowed a service garage to remove the RR steering box, disconnect the steering cylinder and install a USA domestic steering gear.
He now whishes that he had taken it to the local RR&B dealer for a proper survey.
Current proposed cost to restore "just the steering" is $16,000.00 USD minimum.
If anyone knows of Cloud 1, Steering assembly or
Parts Car, please contact me.
He will need to replace most of the steering system in a 1957 Cloud 1, LSED 387, the steering tube, the steering box and probably everything up to tie rod at wheel.
Besides looking for another 1957 LHD Cloud, is there a failsafe way to know from another car's chassis number if the steering will be a direct replacement?
The quotes he has been getting for just the steering gear are stunning.
I would suggest that he sell it and purchase one in show condition, "except", the only thing not perfect on the car is the steering.
The car has been living at three repair garages over the last eighteen months, making everything else perfect.
Any response will be passed on promptly.

Hello Everyone
Don has sold the car to a club member who owns a shop and he almost broke even with repairs + purchase = sale price.
He was not happy to part with the Cloud, but admits it was the best thing he could do with the situation.
Thank you all.
