What is it? Looks like a Silver Cloud but they never had running boards and the door handle looks Cadillac not Rolls Royce.

Wire wheel looks cool but weak - not many spokes.

White wall tire looks nice but don't see that wide a white wall here in Australia.

Ross,

More clues please - I suspect it may be a pre-WW2 Cadillac possibly an early V16 [1931].

David, the door handle looks too modern. Also, to me, looks like fiberglass. Clenent or Excalibur?

It’s definitely a neoclassic in the style of Excalibur, Zimmer, Clenet, etc...
The door handle looks the same as on an Excalibur Series V and probably comes from a 70’s Lincoln.
I don’t think it’s an Excalibur, but can’t figure out what it is.

Lincoln-Zephyr Continental Cabriolet with rear wheel spat removed? I think Benoit is on the right track.

Gentlemen, those would all be so muck better explanations for these photos.

The photos are from a "royce inspired" limousine that was built on an 80's GM B platform. Later someone purchased the limo because it was cheap, and decided to make a sedan. They cut it in half then lost interest.

It is a truly grotesque monstrosity.

The royce part was that it was styled to look vaguely like a royce, the Cadillac part is that it is based of a big gm 80's frame, and the feline part is that one would rather eat a sandwich made from cat droppings than work on this particular car.

I can post all the pictures, but remember before looking that this is not something you can unsee.

They are asking 1500 USD, so if I didn't have two other project cars right now, I would be making the owner an offer.

Ross,

Please post the photos - most if not all car assemblers have at least one abominable car design to their credit during their history.

Now I understand the reason for your comment to my first guess...........

The rear of the auto hearkens back to the days of the Auburn 851. Days when great effort was given to integrating every aspect of design. The delicately formed bumper flows seamlessly with the fenders the two seemingly sculpted from the same piece of metal. The boomerang on a stick boot mascot so right, so natural in it's location that one can scarce imagine anything in it's place. Each element of the body, different and distinct as the instruments in the symphony , offered up together to create a sublime harmony so beautiful as to make the angels cry.

Cry? Yes.
How much did you say the owner was paying you to take it away and presumably put it out of its misery? ...a la the movie titled "They Shoot Horses, Don't They?"

I shall sleep better tonight knowing that I never had to see this thing in "all its glory" in person.

I weep for the Cadillac sacrificed to make it.

Now that we have all called our therapists and incurred great costs to recover from Ross's last hideous post of things unspoken of.....

Does anybody know what this car is? Hint: I would have to sell the Opera House in Sydney to Uncle Putin to be about to afford to keep it on the road let alone if it got into a traffic bingle. Hopefully, David will post a picture of it soon.

Personally I like it and its definitely rarer than a Right Hand Drive Camargue.

Here is Vladimir's comment and photo - sent by smoke signals from Mount Coolon..............

Thanks,

PS All the best for Xmas and New Year old chap. I have my eye on a triple black Spur in California at the moment and hopefully my next gig as a Bore Runner 300 kilometres west of Camooweal on a million acre plus cattle station will enable the purchase of my third but unlikely final Rolls Royce.

Vladimir

Cheers Vladimir

It’s a Rolls Royce Majestic, styled by Bertone and built for the Sultan of Brunei.

Sorry, but I find that Majestic to be anything but.

The custom cars for the Sultan of Brunei range from breathtaking to, well, leaden blobs. That car looks like the bastard child of a Goodwood Phantom and a Seraph, born prematurely.

Brian,

From that angle the rear and side remind me of a jaguar mk X which is one of my favorite car designs.

If the grill was canted forward a few degrees and the headlights round...

Reminds me of the old adages:

"A Camel is a Horse designed by a Committee"

"It is something that only its creator would love".

I rest my case................
