My problem these days, is I belong to too many historic vehicle clubs. I have been a member of the VMC since I had my licence, and also belong to 3 other motoring clubs, Austin 7 Club, Club Laverda NSW, and the Classic Italian Motor Cycle Association. The prospect of joining another club is daunting, as I feel I would be spreading myself around to thinly, and not being able to positively participate in the club's activities. I have already dropped my membership to the MG owners Club and the HSRCA for these reasons. However, the one make clubs hold a wealth of information for owners of the specific vehicles, and I feel the internet based message boards such as these provide an excellent opportunity for owners to give and recieve technical information, when they do not have the time for the social part of the club. Are you planning to archive this messages Chris? |

As far as I'm concerned, Martin, these messages will stay until we run out of disk space. I think we've got enough of that to last a while yet... As for the old forum, well, we may have to move the topics manually, unless I get *real* clever real soon. It'll be left visible for some time, too, with the posting feature disabled once the new forum's gone live. |

sounds like a good idea. That way, if you have a question on, say, MK VI Master cylinders, you could look at the list of threads, and see if anyone has already talked about it. May even be beneficial to collect technical posts, and sort them into some sort of reference manual. On the Laverda Email list, a sort of online community for Italian motor bike nutters like me, one of the guys in Canada has collected all the good technical posts, categorized them, and put them up on a web site. I think he needs another hobby, but....... |

Hi familiar names! Re. 'old' Forum Msgs. If you have no record of 'hits' to individual msgs., to save the most popular, then group under similar splits as you have on this forum. Save in remote storage or directories, yet accessible for those in need. This will keep this most promising Forum clear of debris and thus easier, swifter to use. Follow up with regular 'housekeeping' Hope you don't mind views of an outsider. Cheers, Rick Ford |
