I'm moving to Tasmania in the new year and was wondering if there are any recommendations for mechanics in the Hobart area. |

Hello Lawrence, I will ask around and see with what I come up with. I know there is a good service place in Launceston but that's 2 hrs north of Hobart....I'll see what I can come up with and get back to you ;o)) |

Lawrence, there was an embryonic group starting up in the Isle some years back but they seem to have died. I'll check the register! |

Bill, the RROC in Tasmania is amalgamated with Victoria because of the small numbers. |

Max/ I grew up in Hobart and left when I was thirty to come to Canberra.. The Oatlands advice I'm sorry escapes me except I seem to remember the Mason-Dickson line. I built a house in Howrah and was there for the building of the elevated Derwent River Bridge and remembered well its destruction some years later. I remember the fires that demolished half of South Hobart. Since I have just passed the 80 mark it's a wonder I remember anything!! |

Hahahaaa....the old North-South rivalry still exists The 'Mason-Dixon Line' is at the 42nd parallel....hence the oatlands gates close at five joke. My wife and I were on our honeymoon during the 1975 bidge disaster....an event that completely changed Hobart and led to the building of the second bridge crossing up river with the Bowen bridge. I used to quite enjoy crossing the old 'Floating Bridge'...a very clever design by the same bloke who was head engineer for the HEC....now THAT'S stretching the old grey cells! |
