Today I had a look at a 1931 Austin Lichfield limousine. This is an Austin 20. This model was a direct competitor to the RR 20/25hp cars. And some might with justification say better than. After about 1935 Austin moved more towards mass producing cheaper cars.

I had a ride in the back and the car drives sweetly at 40 mph. This car was a hearse and has been cut and shut into a 7 seater limousine, using a back half of a Austin 20 Mayfair 1928 Saloon. The car is actually a Austin 20 bitza made from prewar parts from autojumbles. The owner has spent 15 years and £12k.

Smashing old car though.
