My car, SRX18501, does not have the standard handbrake. It is fitted with a foot operated "handbrake". There is no reference to it in the workshop manual or handbook. I am curious as to whether this was factory fitted by Rolls Royce or whether it is a non-standard mod someone carried out at some point in the car's history. Has anyone else on the forum got a car with this type of handbrake? Geoff. |

Geoff, My European spec 1978 Silver Shadow II has a true hand "pull and set - turn and release" parking brake. My U.S. spec 1979 Silver Wraith II has a more conventional (for the U.S.) small foot pedal at the far left that you push to set with a handle above the pedal that you pull to release. Both styles are documented in the Shadow II Workshop Manual but I see only the first in the original Shadow Workshop Manual. I am willing to bet that the parking brake style was delivery market specific after some point in production and that it took them a while to update the documentation. Look in TSD4200 and you'll probably find exactly what you're looking for. Brian |

Brian Many thanks. I did not check the Shadow II manual. Geoff. |
