Hi to every one. This is my first post please forgive my terrible typing as i'm not a computer person and years building houses i have developed fat fingers so there might be many type O's .Thanks for letting join this great RR forum.Ive been the proud owner of a 1972 Shadow for the past year now and this site has been so helpful. At one stage I thought' "I have just wasted a years pay" but thanks to this site and the great advice from the contributers have changed my mind about this beautifully elegant old lady.there is nothing quite like a Royce. There are two of us up here in Central Queensland ,I know this other gentlemen who owns a very nice black 1968 shadow but like me not to knowledgeable about the workings of these eccentric cars.I don't know what the other gentlemen has done to his but mine has been s source for many sleepless nights.I blame myself for most of the problems.I didn't do the research. But I'm not giving in; I'get there with the help of this forum and people such as Chapman automotive who have been so helpful.I'll have a go at posting some pics ..cheers from Rockhampton |

Hi Brian. Good to hear from you . I would love to to take the old girl for a good Cruz down to the Gold Coast. I have been busy replacing all the flexible brake lines as I had the brakes lock on and won't release, previous owner mixed brake fluid I think, because sludge looks like Vegemite in the bottom of the reservoir tank, so i thought I'll do the brake pumps,HCV accumulators "G"valve and master cylinder all in one go so I don't waste anymore of that expensive RR363 stuff. cheers rob |

That is a lovely looking car. I like the color combination. I am also very fond of the earlier interiors with the picnic tables in the rear. Regards KC |

After thinking about that noisy front brake pump for about a year I finally got it out. It must have been there for 40 years as it took some real grunt 2 extension bars to get it out.I'm not keen to have a go at the back but after a few beers I'll get the courage up . Has anyone else had as such trouble removing theirs I hope I haven't cracked something cheers rob

Vladimir, With due respect, it is very easy to misspell your email address when transcribing into the forum records and this may be an explanation why you did not receive the acknowledgement. If you have another email address, I suggest you reapply using this address and hopefully there will not be any problems. |

Vladimir's application was approved on 2013-01-14. With so many 'z' characters in the email I guess there were too many or too few entered in the form. I have deleted the account so Vladimir should now re-apply. |

Hi Robert: You mentioned the RR363 Brake Fluid. Is there a difference between RR363 and regular DOT3 brake Fluid? I heard it's the same. |

Hi David My understanding from the many experienced people that contribute to this forum that RR363 and DOT3 are worlds apart ..I have read of hybrid brews and such, but the overwhelming consensus RR363 is really only product to use .When I got my Old girl she was in a sorry state, leaking brake pumps and the need to replace every hose and rebuild the tank. I have seen on this forum much damage from the wrong fluid being used ..I'm no Einstein cos i have to do everything twice or somtimes 3 times before i get the message, but good advice is good advice and there are many Learned people here willing to help cheers Rob |

I just read Issue 86 June 2009 Tee One topics .My God .It was a great read. Their great motors but I'm not sure engine builders have the expertise in Rocky that even know what a wet liner is. You can fix steel body panels e.g. rust and such but sure a lost art when it comes to engine's Bill's Tee One on such things are a real eye opener. I have a 600hp Chevy engine in the shed. I was considering if the RR failed to Proceed from catastrophic failure to proceed an electronic pump to run the breaks was an option ..I'm not a purest to RR its all about reliability and high mileage |

It's a beauty, for sure! Once you have it repaired, you will have...a Rolls-Royce! That is one reason I finally got one (1970)if I am to put forth the effort and money, I wanted to at least end up with something special. Don't be afraid to work on it; just plan, get information and be reasonably careful; this Forum is a great place, and Bill Coburn and TeeOne have helped me greatly. |

I've just read the article myself. I like Bill's focus on the wet liners, surely the most daunting part of the rebuild. What I particularly like is the "can do" attitude regards the constuction of the oven to heat the block. It proves that this job can be done at home without having to invest in expensive ovens or having to resort to specialists. |
