(or 'Happy birthday, Nellie!') Today - February 6th, 2011 - marks the hundredth anniversary of the creation of the Rolls-Royce mascot 'The Spirit of Ecstasy' by Charles Sykes. Whether this is the actual date of manufacture may be open to argument but the date 'Feb 6th, 1911' appears in one format or another on most mascots up to World War II.
