My 1974 Shad overheat due a failed themo stat which I replaced at £30 UK inc gasket. While I was checking the rest as you do, I became suspicious of the viscous fan coupling as well. I made a steel strap to fit across the bolts to make the drive solid. This has improved the Aircon no end. I am limiting engine revs to 2500 rpm till I get a new what'sit. In case the fan explodes. Here in the Uk, as you know we don't get much past 30 celius. So even with out a fan I suspect that I would not get a overheat problem except in traffic. I often read about Shad with hot problems in sunnier places. I would suggest that you check your couplings. |
