BS 308 is the standard for engineering drawings. This allows other engineers to unambiguously under stand the drawing.

Old cars often need bits to be made. I always do a detailed 308 drawing. I use a rule and compass etc.

Tolerances. The tighter the tolerance the harder it is to make. So leave generous plus or minus 15 thou. And tighter on hole positions etc. 5 thou for general chassis stuff.

If the bit is to be made elsewhere then 308 is a must. With own stuff one can take liberties, 308 is easy to understand and naturally intuitive to learn and adaptable. So no excuse not to start the job right.

Google 308.
