Hi, Can somebody please tell me what the stud pattern is on the Spirit and Turbo R? Is there another vehicle manufacturers wheel that would fit, say Mercedes? I am thinking of purchasing one of these vehicles but find the alloy wheel choice lets the car down.
Thanking you in advance
Mark

5/159.9 is the PCD for all Crewe cars since decades ago. For the 7 1/2" rims on Turbo cars, the offset is 40P; for the others with 6 1/2" rims it is 55P.

There is no other vehicle with compatible rims. The closest you will find is for some offroad vehicles, but then you must play around with spacers for the offset, and spacers are illegal in some places. You may not find a tyre which fits legally anyhow. I'm afraid you are pretty much limited to OEM as Mercedes-Benz and the like have a much smaller PCD.

The company:

www.wheelconcepts.com

does make some specials which look pretty awful to me and their prices are comparable to Crewe's, but specialises mainly in chrome plating secondhand wheels on an exchange basis or for outright sale: not very wise.

The JIL wheels sold by Crewe as upgrades or spares are manufactured on a foundry order basis and only sold through Crewe. There is quite a range available. New, they will set you back around A$14,000 or more for four nice ones, but you can save 25% if you import them privately. Secondhand if you are game they still cost two thirds that amount for nice ones, or next to nothing for the ugly early Turbo R wheels by Ronal (I sold my early wheels with 75% good Avons for just A$1,500: basically the rims are worth nothing). Chrome plating adds around 40% to the price. Fortunately I find chromed alloys just too much, so opted for new 17" Turbo RT wheels as fitted from 1998, and Michelin 102W-rated tyres.

One note, even with Crewe's update wheels you will normally need all-new wheel nuts, and new special grease caps for the front hubs.
