Plus, how old is the part - 1989 or earlier? At least thirty years plus. Thirty car years equals what in human years. Doesn't plastic degrade over time. Regards |

True, yes, GM quality. It would appear the grease didn't do nice things to the plastic. Rebuilt now with new reproduction casings for a 1984 Cadillac. |

All I'll say is that I've had a lot more problems with all plastics in my SY series RRs than I've ever had in my GM cars of similar ages. I was shocked when I saw how heavy the wiring was in my now-sold '89 deville compared to what the same wiring was in both the '78 and '79 SYs. I also have never had a single electronic component go out in my GM vehicles, regardless of age. Some electromechanical have had issues with "mechanical" though. It's great that you could have that casing reproduced, though! Let's hope it lasts "forever" or close to it. Brian |

As this looks like no GM seat motor I've ever dealt with, I did a bit more digging. Which company supplied seat motors for Rolls-Royce cars in the 1980s Which company supplied seat motors for Rolls-Royce cars in the 1990s Neither era was GM sourced. Brian |
