Hi all, I have a Spirit chassis #4629 with twin SU carbs. I am having an issue with lots of fuel coming out of the float vent valve. Instead of venting to the outside via the hose attached to the chassis, I vented it to a bottle and filled it with in a minute. I have replaced the floats on both carbs. Any ideas would be appreciated!
Also I am looking for the brass fitting, with O rings that connects to the fuel inlet of the carb from the fuel filter chamber. (To the right of the black hose) I have contacted all the normal suppliers in the UK with no luck. If they are not available has someone else used another fitting - Thank youBrass Filling for Fuel Inlet

Paul.
Others will know better than I regarding the Spirit cars, however for SU products in Australia, Midel at Punchbowl are Australian suppliers.
Burlen are the suppliers in Europe.

David

I don't know if it's applicable, The last SU I had was a 2" HD8 but the needle valve in the float chamber gives problems i.e. not stopping fuel flow causing the fuel leakage.
Easy solution replace the valve and reset the float level.
Also check the float level.

I had the exact same problem today as Paul with fuel leak.
Turned out to be a split "o ring" as in the picture above.
Just replaced them both with viton o rings and no more leaks.

Can someone who's done this post the AS568 size for those two O-rings?

That's the vital information to have, as there's nothing special about any O-ring other than having one of the correct elastomer to resist whatever it's used as the seal for.

They're always one of the AS568 sizes.
