1990 Spirit II starting problems. Put new battery in and engine turns over. There are 2 gallons of fuel in the tank.A spark tester’ was fitted to a cylinder and confirmed ignition working, which to me means there is a problem with the fuel supply. On the initial firing up, when i started to insert the key into the ignition there was a ticking from somewhere in the engine compartment, which continued until key was full inserted and turned to either start or aux. Having put fuel in the tank i do not get the ticking anymore Looking at what diagrams i have it appears there is a relay for the fuel pump located in a bunch of 7 which is located on the rhs of the engine compartment. From what i can make out the fuel system ( in reverse) goes from the injection module back to a mechanical pump in the V of the engine , this in turn goes to the pump, which looks like it id electricaslly operated. For the more informed, what would be the best way of checking if fuel is coming from tank? My thoughts are in order check that it is leving the pump, 20 and this is the bit i am cautious about, is loosening the inlet pipe form the mechanical pump at the centre of the injuction unit . The reason i am cautious is that i don’t know what psi i am dealing with ,nor if there would be irreversable damage done Comments

Remove the line going to the cold start injector to confirm fuel/pressure. |

The fuel pump is well-documented in IETIS for these cars. Mr. Vass is right that the fuel pump is electric and nowhere near to the engine V valley. Since the original poster is unregistered, it is not possible for me to send him a private message. |

I would suggest that service manual(s) are essential for SY and later series of cars - not a huge investment -as RR often seem to have a different way of working. |
