If you have trouble with your ERS a replacement is very expensive. It would be very easy to wire in a Fuel Pump Inertia Switch (as modern cars have) (Amazon @ $15 USD) in place of the expensive ERS in our older cars. It will do the same function (turn off the fuel pump in the event of an accident)as the ERS does. All with lots less wiring and complications. Hard mount the switch to the top of the passenger footwell so it "receives" a solid hit incase of an accident. That breaks the connection inside the switch to shut off the fuel pump by opening the ground wire of the fuel pump relay control side. No need for the ignition spark signal to keep the pump on with this type switch. You can extend the needed wiring right from the ERS harness inside the vehicle. Here is a link to how to do it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHgMHE6TUG8 |
