Put it on jack stands, removed left front wheel and crawled under. Had to use the "chisel method" to get them loose. Just plan on that way if you do it. Make sure you install the forward one first, if not you can't get the forward on in the hole. Use a new square ring seal on each sphere and install the seal in the mounting block before you try to fit the sphere in its hole. Don't just put the seal on the sphere and try to screw it in. Book says 60 ft pounds to tighten but you won't be able to get that much with the tools you might have. I used an oil filter set of plyers. You will feel the sphere bottom out in its hole and anything more is just to prevent it from unscrewing by itself. You're not sealing it by tightening it You're not squeezing the gasket, its just held in the pocket between the sphere threads and the mounting block hole. Open the bleed screw (12mm) on each 1 turn, start the engine and let it run 1 minute. Shut it down and retighten the bleed screws. Check for leaks dripping and reinstall the tire. Job done. Maybe 2 hours if you're fast, 3 if you're older like me :-) |
