Hello all, after advice again. I had to free off the wiper linkage on my '96 normally aspirated Brooklands, UK RHD, having seized. No bother there but it had burnt the motor out so a used one was acquired and fitted. I tried to located the crank arm onto the motor spindle in the same orientation as original.
During the freeing off process I no doubt caught the micro switch mounted centrally on the bulkhead (firewall) with the bracket on the end of the main linkage. Could well have bent it.
Anyway, problem is that when I switch wipers off they stop o.k but wiper 2 relay keeps buzzing as though trying to make an electrical connection but failing. There are three relays by the suspension spring tower - labelled wiper 1, wiper 2, wiper 3.
When switched off the wiper motor crank arm aligns with the linkage operating arm to form a straight line leaving the motor at approx 3 minutes to twelve when viewed from the drivers sid. Putting the actual wipers back on with a wet screen and the motor crank arm comes to rest earlier roughly at 'nine o'clock' position.
No matter how much I realign the crank arm to the motor it keeps stopping in differing places when switched off.
Having trawled through past posts I came across the thread WIPER PROBLEM posted 3 Sept 2009 by Peter Maclaren. In this post Paul Yorke states the motor should turn in the opposite direction by one turn to reach Park position. Mine does not, it will only ever rotates clockwise. A 'Ratchet Disc' is also referred to, not sure of this term.
Back to the Park microswitch centrally on the bulkhead, from what I see this switch is continually depressed each sweep of the wipers, should this be the case?
Help would be much appreciated before I go 'fiddling' with what I don't understand!
ATF is great by the way for lubricating wiper spindles.
