The driver's seat motor in my 82 Spur (without an ECU) runs strongly when using the console switch, BUT the seat will move at all (front/back or up/down). I took the cushion off, but did not see anything apparent. Any help would be great! Richard |

Are you stating the seat will not move from the driver's door? If that is the case, you have a broken wire within the loom as it goes thru the door jamb conduit. |

The seat motor runs fine, but there is just no movement of the seat in any way. |

PS. To be clear, I have perfect power to the motor when using the seat switch. The motor turns strong, but again, no movement in any direction. |

The motor drives a single lead-screw. The different functions are controlled by nylon half-nuts around the lead screw, each with a solenoid to squeeze it and cause it to grip the lead-screw. So, either wiring to solenoids is out of commission, nylon half-nuts are clogged with dried grease and not moving, or nylon half-nuts are broken. This is all from hazy memory, so take it with a pinch of salt.... |

FIXED! The plastic casing had cracked toward the front where the motor shaft and gears mesh together. I put some high strength epoxy AND A few tie wraps to hold it tight. The seat now works great again! This is an excellent example how even Rolls Royce cheapen their cars by NOT using metal for the housing! Richard |
