Hello everybody, sorry for my very bad English but I live at Belgium, I'm an owner of a 1980 Silver Spirit, I came this car from Dubaï. I have a question, when I power up my car the gauge of temperature at my control panel (see picture) is immediately in high position, it return at 0 when I shut down the motor... Do you think that my problem come from the water temperature transmitter ? And I have to change it? Because is very mean, if my cooling system is too hot I can't see it. Tank you for your answer |

Which means: Hi Arfeli, This is a little light-hearted banter between England and Australia based on our unusual sense of humour. However, for the future I respectfully request contributors give an English translation if using a foreign language as I have above thanks to the Google Translation Engine which is entirely responsible for any grammatical errors and absurdities!! |

Ah Arfeli (and Patrick). Using the reverse translation I got (since I cannot remember what I wrote) It is most probably the transmitter. Considering the age of the car unless you think that the transmitter can be rather new by its aspect I would adapt nine. If that does not function remove the temperature measurement of the beam of instrument and send measurement and the shipper to a specialist out of instrument. Which is about the standard of my writing when I have had a couple of Glen Livetts! Patrick I use the translator since it is suprising the few people who know of this service which is readily available on Google. But I stand admonished David in that I usually pop in the original words. So Arfeli if the above makes no sense try Google and you could well find the problem with your temperature gauge is that the rear wheel has fallen off (joke) Cheers PS Patrick I hope you don't resort to Gaelic there is no translator as far as I am aware! |

I found this article is not too expensive http://www.flyingspares.com/1980-1998/Cooling.htm Water Temp Transmitter UE40361 £25 P (37€) I'll try to change it, I hope that it work.... Because I think that's the only assignable cause of the problem, I looked at my workshop manual and the transmitter is directly connect at the signal tab. They are no relay or fuse....
