What a nightmare Mike. I had somewhat of the same problem with the daughter in laws Corolla, but not to that extent. Overtightening of fuel pipes and oil filters is a real pet hate of mine. Good luck with the rest of the job. Just be sure to use genuine rubbers if they need replacing. |

Welcome to my world. Lol. These cars are so ungrateful!! Usually after the grommet there is another connection. Past there the pipe is usually rust free. I usually use a compression joint there and make up a copper pipe to run to the filter. Everybody should rustproof there's now . That includes undoing the P clips and rustproofing inside them. Whilst you are at it do the pipes by the tank outlet and the suspension pipes. . . Paying particular attention to pulling back the coloured rubber sleeves and rustproofing under them. Schedule this job for a time when you can be without it for a few days just in case. |

Just had a good look at the fuel lines on my car and I have found they are very rusty and at one point on a bend there is a damp patch that is fuel starting to seep through. I intend to replace all this pipe with copper. Is it OK to use compression fittings or should I silver solder all the joints. Thanks Trevor Pickering |

PS . If using a compression joint be aware that it will need to be a steel rated one but change the Olive on the copper side to a copper olive. |
