*please forgive me if this has previously been covered; I mostly hang out in the Shadow section So I was at a car meet on the weekend, and struck up a conversation with another classic car guy, Mike, who was right into his old Mercedes', even running a few race cars. However, the most interesting part of our conversation was when Mike told me that he has a company specialising in tuning K-Jetronic cars, having developed reversible add-ons to enable better fueling control. From what I understand, the Warm Up Regulator is replaced with an aftermarket part, which is then controlled with an external ECU (MegaSquirt etc), with closed loop feedback through other sensors (water temp/O2/etc). Since the Warm Up Regulator controls much of the 'fuel map', being able to adjust its signal on the fly gives control similar to a modern EFI fuel map. He's says he's only done one RR/B, a Turbo R in the US, but said drivability and economy was much better than stock as well as a slight improvement in top end power. He also claims that it was worth it on his own cars due to fuel economy alone, as he could add in a 'lean cruise' mode and other modern fuel saving controls. I guess like any aftermarket fuel control, you'd need a dyno session to make the most of it, but I thought someone might be interested (since I had never heard of it), as it seems to offer EFI tunability without too much irreversible modification.
