Hi, Does anyone know how to test the coolant temp gauge on a Mulsanne S? The wiring from the sender appears to go in & out of the instrument cluster. Alternatively is this type of gauge used in other cars? Thanks Regards Darryl |

I have found the specs for the sensor & Tested the gauge on the bench this morning. Connected a 330 ohm resistor from the sensor input to chassis. Reading still incorrect. Rgds |

Too high or low? To test just ground the sensor lead to give full reading Mike |

Hi, History. The temp gauge climbed into the red while cruising at 50-60 mph. Stopped car. Engine did not seem over hot & electric fans did not operate. Coolant level normal. Linked fan switch for a few minutes. Found that one AC fan connector was disconnected. Started engine - temp dropped to normal. Continued journey approx. 10 miles all OK. Nest day on journey home (30 miles) temp gauge only reaches bottom of white. Changed ‘stat and sender (resistance readings about 8% incorrect – probably normal?). No change. See previous post re 330R resistor test. If the sensor lead is shorted to chassis the gauge goes to full scale deflection. Have located & ordered gauge. Regards Darryl |

Hi, 'Stat is a Prestige parts item from Introcar fitted Sept 2016. I have experienced intermittent 'stats before hence fitting a new one (again). V. Fan spins freely and rotates with engine running. Temp gauge always sat near the middle of the white before things went weird. Regards Darryl |

Sorted! My service manual has the Injection System thermal sensor & the coolant sensor transposed on the drawing. The coolant sensor was at fault. Annoying because the sensor was my first port of call but beneficial because I changed the alarm battery and discovered that the battery switch was temperamental. Regards Darryl |
