Having checked spark plugs, leads , CO, etc, the car ran perfectly at speed , but had a flat spot on pickup from tickover and an uneven idle. 2 hours later, I found the idle speed adjusting eccentic on the slide setting idle on A bank side carburettor had slipped round allowing A bank carb to shut down completely at idle. ie I had in effect 4 cylinders running at idle ! re set idle speed on both carbs per manual, problem solved, smooth idle with a sharp pickup. Anyone with an idle problem, check carb balance at idle per the manual, you may save a wasted Sunday morning. I guess this problem could also happen on a Shadow 2 with the same carb set up. Mark |
