Bump - this post was not posted in a new thread and I only discovered it by accident.

David,

Mike's problem was resolved once he realized that the Gates 100 XL 25 synchronous belt was the correct one.

It was one of those, "This *can't* be right, it's too small!!," reactions that corrected itself as the work progressed.

Thanks David and Brian
Yes have fitted the tiny belt.
I think next time I will look for a wider one though as it only seems to use a third of the pulley width.
Cheers

Michael,

That's all the OEM one uses, too. They're plenty strong enough to do their job without any need to be wider.

I've had a couple of reports that this is the belt that is packaged in Crewe Original trim. Of course, there probably are alternatives as well. Gates can't be the only manufacturer nor can the Bentley be the only application or else it wouldn't likely be a Gates belt, they like a big market.

Hi Brian
Porsche use the same system and they use a gates 114xL031 belt ,as you know bentley use the 100 xl 25.
I guess the 100 is the length and 25 the width?
Even so the porsche belt looks more substantial (see pic) and they do break.
I will look into it for next time (many years probably)
Cheers
Mike
