Hi Barry, It's very unusual for an 86 to have any problems with the bonnet catch. Does it feel like it's doing anything at all?

Can you feel the cable going up to the catch?

Has anything been done to the dash or engine bay since the last time it was opened?

Barry...
Can you clarify the nature of the problem when you say the "release catch" (sort of an oxymoron) is not working.
Does it not "release" (such that the bonnet will not pop open), or does it not "catch" (such that the bonnet does not stay fully closed)?
