Dear all,

It seems that my heated lambda sensor is dying a slow death as I get the check engine light once in a while (without any other symptom of misbehaviour).

I saw that Introccars sell the original part INUE74940 A for 244€...

Is it worth going for original or can you advise any (equally original) part number that fits directly. I think it's a Bosch and cannot imagine that the Bentley unit is any better than another Bosch item.

Best regards,

Lluís

i think you need to take the one you have to your local Auto Electric shop and get a direct replacement at a 3/4 of the cost
these B**** think they have you by the balls but they don't

Pretty sure that it is a Bosch 0258003238 as used on many European cars like MB, BMW etc.

Often, just removing it and polishing it will cure the error.

I have been lucky with both avenues.

Thanks,

It's what I thought, the problem with the local shop is what they might do to get to it...

I will just do it myself, maybe just polishing it, but 0258003238 is just 77€ (1/3... of the Bentley price).

Any difficulties I should be aware of to get at it?

The cross-references are: Bosch 0258003238, RR/B UE3879, UE73879

Supersedes Bosch 0258 003 252 , 0258 003 238; M-BENZ A 010 542 47 17 , B 010 542 47 17

It should cost EUR50 or so.

Car up, connector off, a deep breath and turn the spanner. If all goes well, then you could order a coffee beforehand and drink it hot when you finish.

Whoops, turned tricky has it ? Maybe iced coffee is better in summer.

If it is tight, a cheap butane blowtorch from your hardware store will do the trick if your standard electric heat gun does not.

ps: I usually change them when the motor has just had a good run. Then again I have probably just been lucky in the past.
