A colleague in the UK BDC has located a manufacturer who will make up alloy wheels for Turbo Rs (PCD 159.9, offset 40P). As the Avon tyres are becoming very expensive and are an old design, and the old original alloys do not appeal to all, he has decided to go for 18"x7.5" wheels, the size used on later Continental Rs. Many people have converted to 18x7.5 with outstanding results. There are a choice of tyres for these rims, and the wheels would probably pay for themselves in 3 sets of tyres, apart from looking terrific (I'll post the design when I get it). For one set, including badges etc, the quote is UK£1800, about A$4200, a considerable saving on the Crewe items. If we could get an order for a number of sets, the price will be considerably lower, and freight to Australia could be lumped.
