I own a 1977 Silver Shadow II and would like to know if anyone expierienced water coming into the car over the accelerator and brake pedals. I have noticed that during heavy rain or a carwash that the carpet is getting wet and have had water even drip onto my foot while driving. Any comments or suggestions? Thank You | ||

My immediate diagnosis is a blocked drain tube for the air conditioning inlet. First open up the vent immediately in front of the windscreen and with a good vacuum cleaner vacuum out any debris. Replace the foam filter when you close the vent up. Open the bonnet and on both sides of the the bulkhead/dashboard down about engine levelyou should find an angled large rubber tube coming out of the heater box area and pointing to the ground. On the end of this tube there is a large rubber bulb with a split in the end. This is as likely full of debris. This is the drain point for the air conditioning box. If all is clear the box itself is/has corroded and you will need to test it with water, rip out the carpet and trace the leak - this would be an unusual condition - don't get too excited. | ||

Hello R.Perez Suggest you also pull up the carpet and under pad in driver foot area. The catalytic converter is directly under the flat floor area, the metal coating tends to bake off. Last month had a 1978 Silver Wraith II in the shop, wet floors turned out to be large area rusted out over each converter. Have a great day. whunter RROC, Lake Michigan, Motor and Ohio region.
