As new in this area, I have lots of questions. Photo of the engine bay with numbers: 1: What does the vacuum do to the coolant circuit? 2: What is that unit. 3: Are these check valves and are the 8 small tubes from the block to prevent airbubles in the coolant. 4: An empty filterbox not connected for what? 5: An extra hose from carburetor bowls overflow ending blind. What is the function. 6: The choke solenoid does not function. Is that essential? 7: The wax actuator does not function. Is that essential? 8: There is an extra air intake besides the main intake. What has that been connected to?

I would highly suggest reviewing the workshop manual listed on the home page at the bottom. You have many conclusions that are not correct and the workshop manual will benefit you. |

Here's a few answers. 1-Vacuum has nothing to do with coolant 2 appears to be the smog/air pump 3- there are 2 check valves for the smog pump. Nothing to do with coolant. 4- poor pic 5- 2 hoses are fuel overflow. They spill onto the ground 6 choke solenoid operation is very essential 7- choke woks from hot air via the stovepipe tubes to a bimetal spring. 8- you are missing the large air intake hose from the fender to the engine intake. You have more homework. All of this is in the workshop manuals and is identified and repair/overhaul procedures if needed. |

Thank you for bringing me ”on track”. As I had not expected emission control in 1969 model, my initial guess was, that “all this tubing and hoses was coolant. Now I have found the description in section U in the workshop manual. I have experience with many vintage cars, but as you intimate not with Rolls. But former owners did’nt either. The car has been on museum and has got no mechanical care at all for decades. So it needs now. So I think I with my limited skills can do something about it. I have temporary removed the intake hose to see the function of the choke, which did not function. |
