Today, I was adjusting the choke spring assembly on my 1978 Shadow when the nut that that secures the bolt (to tighten the choke spring in place) fell off in the choke housing (PIC)! Luckily, I was able to get the nut out. It is extremely tight in the housing to hold the nut to get the bolt screwed into it. Can the flange be removed (that the three bolts screw into to hold the choke housing)? Any ideas on how to get that nut back in to capture the screw? Side note. I ask for prayers/thoughts as I go through a difficult time with my prostate. Perhaps, several of the older members understand my concerns! I sincerely appreciate our group! Richard |

In past problems I have used a bit of stiff wire with the nut glued to one end with rubbery glue which can be peeled off after success. Bend the wire to suit the position. Crude but (sometimes) effective. For better positioning wrap the wire round the nut too. |

I use double sided tape to stick a nut to the end of my finger and then rotate the bolt with the nut held in place. If possible, put a rag inside the housing to help prevent the nut falling inside. Best wishes regards your health issue. |
