Has anyone used the 123 replacement ignition system in a shadow?

No, but it should be excellent and very precise as the mechanical advance weights have been replaced electronically.
One can do a custom advance curve as well.

I'd check the operating temperature spec before buying. It can get very hot in the engine bay, especially in an Australian summer.

Robert - Lol.

Actually, one of the delights of owning these cars is not being held hostage to the presence of numerous, expensive electronic devices, as is the case in modern cars.

Having said that, given the replacement is a complete distributor, you could always carry the original in the car as a get-you-home measure in the event of failure.

Steady on fitting a distributor with plug fouling, get to the real failings of the causes.

Inlet valve seals worn, carbs running a rich mixture, carbs out of balance.
Excess plug gaps.
HT lead failure.
Engine with heavy breathing to mention a few.

BTW all of the above will put a loading on the distributor module with plug firing

Ok so it seems no-one has used the 123?

I have used them on some other older cars and they have worked well.

The other alternative is this from Introcar, has anyone has used this? ...
https://prestigeparts.org/products/ignition-kit-opus-replacement-lu-281

but almost as expensive as a completely new 123 distributor.

Buy the Pertronis LU-281 or the newer version 9LU-281 from other sources other than FS. Pertronix sells direct.
BTW They are excellent and I have used them
