G'day everyone,...

The question is, Yes or No?

A hard, "No," for me.

That being said, I have nothing against those who do these mods. Most are taking bodies from the junkyard that would just sit and rust away anyway.

After watching a "one series" Shadow I used to pass on my way to/from Pennsylvania that sat behind an auto repair facility, why not? It would either have been a parts car (which would be OK, too) or scrapped. I stopped on two occasions, some years apart, to look at it and was shocked at just how badly the interior, in particular, fared over time. There was really nothing left to work with except the shell after a while.

G'day everyone,.....

Yeah my first reaction was a massive NO!

But I guess you have a good point there Brian.

While not my cup of tea, at least they are on the road and not rusting away somewhere.

And perhaps the first pic is from the south UK or southern AU.

I can tolerate the first image but the second is outright disgusting and reprehensibly sickening.

The John Mathieson/Jeanne Eve Phantom PV as prepared for the 1997 Peking to Paris Motor Challenge event is a good example of how a classic car can successfully go off-road rallying without having to be bastardised.

The full series of these reports are well-worth reading.

I think this is a video of the Shadow in the second pic, but purple instead of sand.

Remember, I'm not condoning this practice, but it keeps one more RR on the road (or off road).

G'day everyone,....

Well the ride would be a bit harsher on leaf springs and would have lost a bit of wheel articulation.
