I am starting this thread so that if you find a crossover part that is much cheaper than the original Rolls Royce part, you can inform others of your find. Please do not ask for parts here, ask in another thread, and when the part is found then add it to this thread. Thanks

FLASHER RELAY - 1975 SILVER SHADOW (TWEENER)

Flasher Relay can be replaced by a Novita (a standared American Part) LL552 Flasher. It is round but fits (a bit more snug pushing up against the wires). Tweener means a 1975 that can have Shadow I or shadow II parts on it.

This is what I was once told - unkonwn if its true and perhaps others may be able to better clarify. I was told this while looking to buy my SS1 by a long term owner. For us Aussies Holden HK Kingswood brake pads fit SS1.

Glen,

This was correct in the late1990/early 2000's when I did a complete hydraulic system rebuild on DRH14434.

I used "Premium" pads instead of standard composition pads and had no problems with pad squeal/noise when applied on cold discs. this may not be the case with later asbestos-free pad compositions.

not a difficult job.

No subs on the water pump. Have it properly rebuilt by someone who has done them. Exchange with FS or Intro is your best bed, IMO

Glen,

That one is well known, but it never hurts to bring it up on any topic regarding crossover parts.

It's been in my RR & Bentley Parts, Repair, Restoration & Other Resources Compilation, along with a lot of other stuff, for some years now.

Great idea Mike. Interestingly something that is very expensive to buy and seems strange that it is not readily available is the 4" flexible intake hose that goes from the air filter to the carbs. Mine needs replacinga dn I have been holding off till I find something reasonable.
I will post as soon as I find something!

As a replacement for the main air intake duct that runs from the air filter to the intake plenum I used a Spectre 9751 duct. Fits perfectly and has been on the car for 7 years now with no problems.

The Range Rover Distributor cap is meant to fit:

Steve,

I very much doubt a GM part has ever been mentioned by US-domiciled RR/B owners as an alternative for the Lucas distributor let alone fitting a GM distributor.

The Land Rover/Range Rover distributor and associated parts mentioned above are readily available replacements.

The Buick 215 or Rover V8 distributor is almost the same, the opus module, cap and rotor are all interchangeable, however the distributor turns in the opposite direction so cannot be used on a Rolls Royce
