There are two white foam-like plugs sticking out from the forward end of the block. They appear to seal the coolant passage as one is seeping coolant when cold. I couldn't find these seals referenced in the parts or service manuals. Is there a technique to replace these with everything else in-situ? My concern is not overheating or appreciable coolant loss, but the mess that's created when the cooling fan starts blowing the seepage over other components. Thanks.  | ||

It's a one piece sealing strip, one length of material that has both ends protruding (like a length of rope in appearance). Part number is UE5608, costs approx. £10 from Introcar Ltd. | ||

It's the front upper timing case gasket.It runs horizontally. There is no oil or coolant behind it. Leakage of coolant thru the gasket may be an indication of a bigger problem. | ||

Avery, Is there a chance the the coolant is coming from elsewhere and only pooling there? If you have access to a pressure tester, wash it off real well then put 10psi in overnight then look what's wet. If you are only loosing small amounts of coolant, it seems hard to believe it's coming from there. | ||
