I am trying to figure out if cool (aircon) air is blown onto the windscreen when the aircon is on.
With the aircon on, if I close both bullseyes and the centre vent, and pull the left hand ( upper) air control fully out for maximum quantity to the windscreen, the air does not feel cold blowing on the windscreen.
Anyone know please?

Patrick I think that part of the system is a demist function usually would be used with warmer air and as your car is 45 years old perhaps that is all it does, But maybe I don't know either, See you in October.

Richard.

Hi Patrick

If your car is a "series 1" the refrigerated air will not be blown through the windscreen vents. I got this information from the air conditioning section of the handbook for a 1975 model.

I cannot verify this on my 1974 Shadow as I currently have the heater control box out for refurbishment.

Thanks Guys. I think I agree that refrigerated air is not available through the windscreen vents. Shame really, since refirgerated air is the most efficient at demisting!

Note A in the attached literature would suggest cool air is available to the screen in the first position. My car is still in pieces, anyone up for trying it?

Hi Martin

What is the source of this documentation? I am currently refurbing my 74 SS heater/ac system and have not come across such a useful document.

I believe the attachments are from a training manual I scanned a while ago. If not they're the same pages. I'll search my computer files tomorrow. If anyone wants clearer more readable/printable copies just pm me with your emails and I'll forward the whole manual.

I think Jeff is correct, I have so much data on these cars but memory fades as to where it was found
