Glen, if I remember correctly, it is screwed on. Remove the carpet lining the inside the boodlid and you should be able to unscrew it. | ||

If it is the type which flips up to expose the key-hole you will need a kinky 1 5/16 spanner (35mm) to undo the big nut. If not, not. Alan D. | ||

Thanks - well that was painful. 8mm nut in a long screwdriver with a flexible shaft is what was required to be manipulated through a hole in the inside of the boot about the size of a coke can diameter with little or no view. I need a nap now. | ||

Getting the nuts off is usually the easy part. Getting the lower nut back on is often the difficult bit and making sure not to get the threads crossed which is easily done when using a flexi end. Not sure why the hole was not bigger in the first place really but I always use a hole cutter Q max punch and put an additional small hole about 12mm diameter just below the large (or not really so large hole) and the inner metal panel cross strengthener. This allows the use of a straight extension bar and makes access to the lower nut simpler. The badge should also have a rubber gasket between the badge and body paint which does not appear to be there on the picture of the badge in place on the boot of you car. 8mm socket works fine on a 5/16 inch UNF nut, but you will need to put a bit of mastic or packing in the end of the socket first just to keep the nut close to the end of the socket when refitting. It is just impossible to get your fingers in far enough to get the nuts started. A little magnet rod is useful to have on hand too just in case the nut falls off before tightened.  | ||

The rubber gasket is there. It is a very painful job that requires huge reserves or patients and calmness. |
