Hi

I haven’t given up YET on getting her sorted and certainly not a quitter

Here are a couple of engine pictures which she looked in the VERY good days which may change responses.

I couldn’t see anything beyond the hard and perished hoses.

I am going to look at the manual and make sure it matches that I am still hoping to find where ithe hose went.

I removed the air filter tube housing hoping to find something to connect my hose to.

And I see this pipe what is it and where does it go..?

I would appreciate anyones input

1976 Silver Shadow - The Very last of the model just before the shadow 2

SR24545

Thanks Martyn

First the last picture, the pipe looks like what is left of the expansion tank overflow pipe.

Thanks Patrick

I checked this afternoon and it is definitely not that

It is very hard and small looks like it goes to the horn.,?

I haven’t been able to see even with my borescope

It looks like I have to take the wheel and trim off

Am I right about that I have read in the maniual but not done it yet

Thanks
Martyn

Great Pics. :D

I would say it is the warm air blend flap vacuum line. By the air filter. Swaps between air from that duct by the manifold to cold outside engine bay air.

It goes up to a vacuum point somewhere. Perhaps under the air intake on the inlet manifold. Under the Air intake trunking. A1 or A2

Yes Paul is spot on.
should look something like this pix.

Strange that is the same as my Shadow 2.
RR must have done a update on late Shadow 1s.
Will try and get some pix up tomorrow where the
pipe no 3 shown go's on the manifold.

Agreed Patrick - my 1974 SY1 does not have the blend flap. Martyn's car is a late 76 (SR24545).

In Summer I remove the narrow flexible ducting that leads to the exhaust manifold to keep things a little cooler. My blend flap is manual.

Thanks so much both.

I am going this morning to spend the day.

First job iis to take the wheel off

You are right

Right on the cusp. In the manual some sections refer to Early models, Later Models AND Current Models

Patrick / Geoff An important thing.

Late model - But not quite the same as the Shadow 2..!!

On the engine bay pics I posted and just again for clarity- Mine is flexible plastic all the way from the air filter to the middle of the carb

Patrick on the picture you posted On the Shadow 2 the pipe is actually hard Plastic fixed pipe at the carb for a foot or so then flexible for the rest. There is also a vacuum connection on the alloy pipe of the carb.

Pretty sure I have also seen alloy for that foot or so and then flexible plastic

I have been unique all my life so not worried - ha ha

Geoff i do like your manual intervention..

Thanks Paul - I have always liked taking pictures i think i am good at it.

Its also the New iphone x - with One Trillion Megapixels or more...!!

Paul you refer to A1 and A2 is there a key i cant see.?

Martyn

May be the hose is connected to the part in red on the pix.
