I had a tire leaking out of the sidewall the other day so I got some new tires. The tires I bought were not whitewalls or even white letter. I tried painting them on with plastidip removable paint. I didn't prep the sidewall beyond wiping off the dirt so we'll see how long it lasts.

Ross, it is quite amazing how different white walls can change the appearance of a car. Here are before & after on my car. This was done at a local hot rod shop. $15 per wheel.

Patrick, Great before and after pics. It really does change the look of the car completely. I prefer the WW look as well. |

It does alter it dramatically doesn't it. This is a 20mm line, which is the biggest he does. He mainly does hot rods, and 10mm or less is most popular. He does many red walls, or can even match the stripe colour to the car colour, which is also pretty popular with his customers. He has a home made box he sits on, that rotates the wheel, plus has jigs to hold the wall grinder tool, plus the paint applicator tool. It doesn't actually "grind" as such, it just roughs up the wall to a specific width, you cant actually feel the depth at all, so the sidewall isn't compromised in any way. |
